Urban Ministry Center

Charlotte, NC

Urban Ministry Center’s HousingWorks program provides a safe, stable home and essential wrap-around support to our community’s most vulnerable men and women experiencing chronic homelessness.  The impact of Moore Place, our permanent supportive housing apartment building, is clear: our residents are getting healthier, reconnecting with families, accomplishing goals such as obtaining a GED and getting a job, and most importantly, reclaiming lives of dignity and hope.  Moore Place is not only saving lives but is also saving our community resources.

Virginia Supportive Housing

Richmond, VA

The mission of Virginia Supportive Housing (VSH) is to end homelessness by providing permanent housing and supportive services. VSH is Virginia’s first and largest provider of permanent supportive housing for chronically homeless single adults. Since 1992, VSH has developed 463 units of permanent supportive housing in 17 properties throughout Richmond, Hampton Roads and Charlottesville. 95% of VSH clients do not become homeless again.

When chronically homeless individuals exit the streets, they have little more than the clothes on their backs. “VSH is grateful for our partnership with Butler Human Services” said Allison Bogdanović, VSH Executive Director. “Butler provides quality, long lasting furniture at a reasonable price, which allows us to deploy our resources for the real work ahead – helping individuals reclaim their lives.
